Negativity Bias

Our brain is wired to look for what’s wrong, bad, or threatening as a way to keep us safe. However, what worked in the Stone Age can get in your way at work. For instance, if your peer tells you he doesn’t like something you did, it’s natural (but not necessarily smart) to react by aggressively pushing back. That’s due to your brain’s wiring.

It is a myth that everyone has the capacity to be an effective leader. Many executives don’t have the self-knowledge or authenticity necessary for leadership. That’s not to say they won’t be put in leadership positions—you’ve probably already come across people who are ill-suited to their jobs—it’s just that they are ill-equipped for true leadership.
