While there has been a lot written about the benefits of mindfulness, most find it difficult to incorporate time for reflection into their work life.

Dr. David Peterson, Director of Executive Coaching and Leadership at Google, recommends setting aside one minute every day to consider how your day has unfolded. He suggests reviewing the following five questions:

What new thing did I do today?
What worked well?
What didn't?
What did I learn?
What one thing will I do differently tomorrow?

Practical Tips: Time to Buff Your Social Skills

According to the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report, “On average, by 2020, more than a third of the desired core skill sets of most occupations will be comprised of skills that are not yet considered crucial to the job today, according to our respondents. Overall, social skills—such as persuasion, emotional intelligence and teaching others—will be in higher demand across industries than narrow technical skills, such as programming or equipment operation and control. In essence, technical skills will need to be supplemented with strong social and collaboration skills.”
