Bunker Mentality

It can be extremely challenging to be a leader when your company experiences major problems. You may know more about the business’s difficulties than you’re allowed to share with your team members, and you can’t express your concerns with them. This often makes for a very tense time.

When this happens, many managers retreat behind closed doors, descending into a figurative bunker. They may find it difficult to give any kind of useful direction, much less motivate their staff. Remember, you’re in charge for a reason; you must put your own worries aside if you want your staff to function well. In many cases, the only way out of a difficult business situation is to have them not only do their best but go above and beyond.

The way you’ve phrased your thought is very revealing. You have put yourself in victim mode. If you are consistently cycling through people every 90 days, there is something wrong with the way you’re interviewing or how you define (or don’t define) the job, and/or there is a discrepancy between what you think you need and what is actually needed.
